Lord Heal Our Land

This week I was listening to a song by Kari Jobe and the lyrics "Lord heal our land" stood out to me because this is probably something that a lot of people are praying for.  I kept listening and the lyrics to follow were "That every eye will see, that every heart will know, the one who took our sins.  The one who died and rose."  This is a very fitting song for Easter but this prayer "Heal our land" can go two ways.  It makes me think of the story of Jesus healing the paralytic.  When some men brought a paralytic to Jesus his initial response was to say "Take courage, son: your sins are forgiven" - Matt. 9:2.  The scribes considered it blasphemy but Jesus response to them was ""Why do you harbor evil in your hearts?  Which is easier: to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk?'  But so that you may know what the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins..." Then He said to the paralytic, "Get up, pick up your mat, and go home." and the man got up and went home." Matt. 9:4b-7.
I think that Jesus forgave the mans sins before healing him because that was the biggest need as it is for all of us.  I've always been a little unsure of the answer to his question of "Which is easier: to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk?'"  I think I've finally realized that one is not easier than the other.  Neither can be done without God.  Jesus used the visible proof of healing the man physically to show that because he could do that he also had authority to forgive sins.  Praise God that he is willing and able to heal our land first and foremost spiritually, but also physically!
A new treatment doctors are trying in some States for critically ill patients with COVID-19 is to give them plasma from donors that have recovered from the disease because the plasma has antibodies in it to fight against the disease.  My Uncle recently recovered from COVID-19 and donated his plasma to a man that is currently on life support due to COVID-19.  We are still waiting to hear the outcome but praying that God will work a miracle and heal this man!
My Uncle pulled out an interesting analogy on Good Friday that just as he gave his blood in hopes to help heal a man, Christ gave his blood to forgive our sins and heal us spiritually.  The plasma donors have to have gone through the same battle that the patient is currently going though.  The plasma donors also have to have a negative test proving that they no longer have COVID-19.  I think that this also is a great comparison to Christ's blood for us because Christ had to walk through the trials of life just as we all do.  Without this I'm not sure his blood would be as powerful.  He lived this life and he was victorious!  The grave could not hold him!  Romans 6:23 says "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord."  Christ conquered the grave because he had no sin!  When he faced death he 'tested negative for sin' so to speak and because of that we can have eternal life through him!
On this Easter weekend, will you pray with me for physical and spiritual healing on our land?  Will you pray with me that God would use my Uncles plasma to bring physical healing to Kevin?  Pray that Kevin's body would accept this plasma and antibodies and start creating his own to fight this disease.  Let's pray that this treatment would be proven to work and many other COVID-19 patients could receive a life saving blood?  But will you also pray with me just as we pray Kevin's body would accept my Uncles blood that our friends and family and our world would accept the sacrificial blood of Christ and allow it to heal them? Pray that God would use this situation that our world is in to turn people to him.  Let's pray that God would bring physical healing to our land as he did for the paralytic and that this physical healing would prove His power to heal our land spiritually as well.
"So God we pray to you, humble ourselves again.  Lord would you hear our cry?  Lord will you heal our land?  That every eye will see, that every heart will know, the one who took our sin.  The one who died and rose." - Heal Our Land, Kari Jobe
