You've probably heard of "the first look." In this modern wedding trend the bride and groom get to have a first look at each other on the wedding day before the ceremony. Brides are often anxious, stressed, and overwhelmed by all of the details that go into a wedding. My husband and I did not do the first look but I can only imagine that all of those worries and anxieties the bride feels leading up to the first look vanish the moment she lays her eyes on her groom whom she is about to marry. So what if Christ were our first look each day? In Matthew 6 he instructs us not to worry and in verse 33 he says "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness." We are living this life engaged to be married to him one day in heaven. What if during this period of waiting we fix our eyes on him and let all of those worries, that we all know too well, vanish as we lay our eyes on him, our first look.

Lord Heal Our Land

     This week I was listening to a song by Kari Jobe and the lyrics "Lord heal our land" stood out to me because this is probably something that a lot of people are praying for.  I kept listening and the lyrics to follow were "That every eye will see, that every heart will know, the one who took our sins.  The one who died and rose."  This is a very fitting song for Easter but this prayer "Heal our land" can go two ways.  It makes me think of the story of Jesus healing the paralytic.  When some men brought a paralytic to Jesus his initial response was to say "Take courage, son: your sins are forgiven" - Matt. 9:2.  The scribes considered it blasphemy but Jesus response to them was ""Why do you harbor evil in your hearts?  Which is easier: to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk?'  But so that you may know what the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins..." Turning from Panic to Prayer and Praise (w/ Worship Video)

    We have a running joke in our house about hand soap.  Somehow we always have way to large of a stock of hand soap and for a long time anytime Joel (my husband) would make a trip to the store for me he would come home with a thing or two of hand soap because just thought we might need more.  Once he finally realized we were set for a year he still would bring home hand soap just to be funny.  I do have to admit, I have a really hard time passing up a good deal on bath and body works soaps, even if we do have a bucket load of soft soap at home.  With all of the extra hand washing to avoid this virus and with being at home a lot we are going through soap more than ever.  We are down to our last 3 bottles of hand soap.      Last week our 1 year old son, Corban, started moving his hands in a motion that looked like he was washing his hands. The Secret to No More Worry

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.  Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them.  Are you not much more valuable than they?" Matthew 6:25-27       This verse has been on repeat in my head all week.  Just a few weeks ago I read Matthew 6 and wrote in my journal how ashamed I am of myself for the petty things I worry about.  I remember thinking there are people with valid reasons to worry about food and clothes and those worries don't even cross my mind, yet, Jesus was asking them not to worry?
